Surprise, surprise...we have started discussions and planning for the upcoming CulturalFest (CFest) in November. I am really excited to see how the event will turn out since there are many new faces on the committee (which will hopefully bring better ideas). One thing I learned over the years is to start planning as soon as possible. I know why it never happened: I was never here for the summer to initiate meetings. Ironically, this time when I'm not taking charge of the event, I am actually around over this time. This is the reason for CFest to be twice (maybe even more?) as good as it was the last time, with more involment from the campus community.
Anyway, despite wanting to see something different, I'm sure the focus of the event remains - to showcase the culture and tradition of people from around the world. This will hopefully educate the UW community about how diverse the campus is and there's so much we can learn from our peers. In addition to that, the event is always a good way to promote the organization and increase our visibility on campus.
May I suggest that we have a CFest tagline from now on?
Go team!
